Vontobel Appoints New Asia-Pacific Research Head

has appointed Lee Wei Kai as head of Asia Pacific to support clients in the region and grow the business.

Lee Wei Kai brings 18 years of industry experience and a longstanding track record of covering large asset owners and consultants across Asia Pacific, the firm said. He is taking over this role from Ulrich Behm, who will lead Vontobel’s intermediary and partnerships channels in Switzerland, the firm added.

Prior to joining Vontobel, Lee Wei Kai was at Stone Harbor Investment Partners, where he was a partner, head of Asia-Pacific and a founding member in Asia. Previously, Lee Wei Kai worked for UBS Asset Management in Singapore in the Pan-Asia Institutional Business Development team, the firm said in a statement. He started his career at the Monetary Authority of Singapore in 2004.

“Growing our presence in Asia Pacific is one of Vontobel Asset Management’s key initiatives. With Lee Wei Kai we have won a strong partner to accompany us on that journey,” Marko Röder, head of client unit asset management, stressed.

Vontobel has been present in Asia-Pacific since 2008, serving the region with teams in Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo and Sydney.
